Dinan Festival: Brittany Forges Connections Between Designer Fashion and Streetwear
From October 4 to 6, 2024, the International Festival of Fashion Designers will take place in Dinan, a city in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region. This event bridges the gap between young fashion school graduates and the streets of the city.
On Thursday, July 4, 2024, the festival's founder, Dominique Damien Réhel, gathered partners at the Maison de la Bretagne (Paris, 15th arrondissement) to announce the nominees for the 28th edition of the Dinan Festival of Fashion Designers. Among the attendees were familiar faces, including loyal partners Michael Scherpe and Claudia Franz from Messe Frankfurt, who continue to support the festival, especially in today’s challenging economic climate where many uncertainties prevail.
Another significant supporter is the Dinan City Hall, represented by deputy mayor Joëlle Le Guiffant, whose speech once again highlighted the unbreakable bond between the city and this fashion festival. This event uniquely invites both locals and tourists to be part of its dynamic atmosphere—an exceptional feature in the fashion world worth repeating. In addition to organizing a fashion show in the heart of the city, one design from each participant is displayed in the windows of fashion or accessory stores.
The Dinan Festival is also a thriving ecosystem that returns year after year, featuring contributors such as Muriel Piaser (Precious Room), TV host Magloire, Christine Walter Bonini (International Academy of Patternmaking in Paris), and Jean-Luc François. This year, the standout figure renewing his participation and fostering connections between Haute Couture and streetwear is the jury president, Stéphane Rolland.
